The Persian cat is one of the world's most beautiful cat breeds. It is generally believed to be one of the most ancient breeds. It is believed to have its origin in the Iranian plateau the large region between the Mesopotamia and the Hindu Kush mountains. This area was called Persia and thus the name "Persian cat". When you own a Persian cat it is liken to owning a great piece of work of art.
