Most Americans consider exercise to be a dirty word. No wonder, millions of them are obese. Individuals of all ages, genders, races, ethic groups, and backgrounds have their waist lines expanding beyond their control. Obesity leads to various other disorders such as diabetes, heart disease, and liver failure. In such a situation the only hope lies in living a healthy lifestyle, eating a well balanced diet, and exercising regularly. The unpleasant connotations of exercise come from the image of overactive aerobics teachers in skimpy skintight outfits making people work out constantly. What happens is that excessive exercise leads to frustration and exhaustion and the enthusiasm to reduce weight dies down. They go back to their sedimentary lifestyle. This is the wrong way to go about it. Instead, if you do regular exercise for fifteen minutes over a period of time instead of all at once, you will be healthier than those who work out for an hour a week. Many people have difficulty in exercising alone, so the best way is to involve a family member or a friend. This makes it less of a chore as you always have a motivator to look up to. If you fail to find suitable partner then join any exercise group. Nowadays majority gyms, fitness parlors and exercise groups offer the exercise lessons for free or for minimal charges. Exercise is the best way to make and interact with friends and regain the lost health. Set a reachable goal when it comes to exercising. Perhaps your goal is exercising a given amount of time each week. Maybe you are striving to run a mile without stopping or increase your stamina level on the stationery bike. Whatever your goal, be sure to set on that is well within your reach. It is not unusual for people to do goal setting as short-term and long-term goals that they strive to achieve. The long-term goal might be to pursue the aim of a healthy life while the short-term goal might be to increase your stamina for baseball. As soon as you're through with the short-term goal maintain your progress towards healthy and happy living. In case finances pose a problem then you can choose to exercise at home . The advantages of exercising at home are many as it saves you the hassle of traveling. All you need to do is put some basic items and equipment such as weights, mats and certain gym equipments. To shed some extra pounds off you, you can also choose to exercise on the stair climber or the treadmill. Besides the work outs, start taking a stroll around the block and exercise outdoors when the weather permits. Gradually you can turn the stroll into a brisk walk. If you have children, use every opportunity to play a game of baseball, football or soccer with them. For many people the motivation to go to a gym apart from the excellent exercising equipment stems from the financial commitment.
