Doors can be as varied as personalities. A door reflects the persona of the house. When a visitor first comes to your home, the first channel of introduction between you and your guest is your door. Each home has its own exclusive architectural style with unique doors complementing it. An old world fashioned Dutch door can give your home the touch of country style or if you prefer the classical style, then your home should have an old fashioned heavy wooden door with a massive brass doorknob and an elaborate trim. If you prefer the modern day chic look, you can have a plain and practical modern looking door with adequate trim to make it stylish yet resourceful. The traditional style doors, or the country style Dutch doors, are named after their country of origination. Dutch doors were made in Netherlands, way back in the 1600s. These doors were popularly seen in old country homes, which enhanced the unconventional look. However, Dutch doors are rarely seen in modern homes today. You can add the traditional country look to your decor by installing Dutch doors, making it look very elegant. The Dutch door is made up of a door divided into two, a top half and a bottom half. Either the top or the bottom half can be opened or when they are latched together can be used like a standard door. In the bygone days, Dutch doors were familiar structure as they were used in stables. A Dutch door is very befitting for a stable as the horses and other animals can be kept into confines by locking the bottom half while the top half is left open for ventilation. Dutch doors were also used for front entryways and as interior doors. These doors are in vogue in barns even in these modern days. Unfortunately, in today’s times, new houses are not equipped with Dutch doors, unless they have been specially ordered for. Many people, like to personalize their homes, by attaching Dutch doors, to add an old country look to it. Dutch doors can also be used as back doors, garages and garden doors. Fascinate your visitors with the classic appeal by installing a classic entrance in your home. Classic doors are generally heavier and are crafted out of hard woods like oak. These doors are very brawny and sturdy and have a very long life. But you must treat this classical beauty so that it can resist harsh weathers and if it is necessary varnish or paint it every 2 or 3 years. You have to bear extra burden of maintenance for your classic wood door but it will pay off by increasing the real estate value of your home. A modern door is simpler in appearance than other doors with adornment of a simple design. Generally they are made of wood and are painted. You need to paint up these doors every two or three years particularly if your house is located in a place with extreme weather conditions. Whatever door you choose, remember that it will show your houseˇ¦s individuality and your visitors will get their first impressions from your entrance door. So always take a little care to not only choose the right door but understand how to maintain it as well. Remember the value of your home and to a certain extent your value is based on the type of doors your home has.
