It does not require a rocket scientist to predict the situation when we are left with no fossil fuel in earth’s womb. Petrol, diesel, gasoline etc. are synonymous with energy that drives and sustain life on earth. But with the consumption levels increasing by the minute, there is a serious danger of fossil fuels being wiped out from the planet. Some serious measures need to be adopted at the earliest to prevent the danger. Car pooling is one such measure that can really prove beneficial in the long run. Car sharing in India owes its origin more to the desire to save money than fuel. The middle class Indians are conscious of the fact that ridesharing could actually save them lots of money, which is unnecessarily wasted on fuel. Carpool in India has drawn a mixed response so far from the general population. This is due to the fact that carpool obviously has some negatives attached too. For instance, it eliminates the possibility of overtime by one or few of the members contributing. It also means you are dependent on the other members for the schedule before and after house hours. But viewed from a broader spectrum, carpool benefits the society at large in more ways than one. It reduces the road congestion and this single factor makes life worth living on the roads for millions of daily commuters. It saves plenty of fuel, which in turn benefits the nation’s economy as well as the entire human race. The huge amounts of air and noise pollution suddenly gets minimized just be having a few cars less on the roads. And just imagine the consequences, if people on a mass scale adopt carpooling in their daily lives. The people who can’t afford to own a car need not feel dejected. Car rental in India has grown by leaps and bounds in the recent years to provide you cheap car rentals for your daily needs. And if the rents are shared, it proves even cheaper.
